The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) is a statutory body, established by the Teaching Council (Scotland) Act 1965 and currently has a membership of over 80,000 registered teachers.

Objective

The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) is the professional regulatory body for teachers in Scotland.

GTCS had a requirement to develop a website which was to become the principal means of communication between the Council and its stakeholders.

GTCS selected Activedition in January 2006 following a competitive tender process for developing its public facing website and for leveraging tangible benefits through timely delivery of communications and knowledge to the targeted stakeholders.

The website had to be easy to update and be managed by council staff, and had to be fully compliant with current Disability Discrimination Act and Freedom of Information Act legislation.

Solution

The GTCS website went live on the 28th April 2006 on time, to budget and to specification. Based on the success of the initial phase and feedback from members, GTCS are now looking to further extend the range of eBusiness services building on the improved communication with stakeholders and members.

GTCS is now focused on the next stage of their eBusiness Strategy which includes, Integration with their Membership Database System and a Profile Project which is concerned with implementing an online portfolio for teachers undertaking their probationary service with GTCS. These developments are currently being developed by C2 Software.

Client Testimonial

The thought of embarking on large complex web projects no longer fills me with the dread it once did. The guys (and girls) at C2 have a knack of understanding what we want and how we can achieve it, and their ability to grasp our requirements in the early stages of a project gave me confidence that it would be a success. It has been a pleasure working with them so far and we hope to continue this in the future with further new initiatives.Case Study Quote
